Independent Contractor Agreement
Between Voltora and each electrician activated on the platform.
$50 signup fee, first month free, then $250/month. Each electrician you refer who becomes an active member gets you 50% off your next month. Refer two and your next month is free.
1. Independent contractor relationship
You provide electrical services as an independent contractor operating your own business, not as an employee, partner or agent of Voltora. You control how you perform accepted work, decide which jobs to accept, and are responsible for your own taxes and helpers. You must supply, maintain and pay for your own tools, equipment, vehicle, fuel, vehicle insurance, repairs and maintenance, uniforms or workwear, and any other items and operating expenses needed to perform your services. Voltora does not provide or reimburse these items or expenses, except where required by applicable law. Access to the Voltora platform and permitted use of its name or branding do not create employment or authorize you to act on Voltora's behalf. Any independent-contractor classification is subject to applicable law; Form W-9 is tax documentation, not an employment classification.
2. Licensing requirements
You must hold an active electrical license valid in every state and locality where you accept jobs, keep its expiration date current on your Voltora profile, and only perform work within the scope of that license. You must obtain any required permits. An expired, suspended or revoked license immediately pauses your account.
3. Insurance requirements
You must maintain general liability insurance at all times while active, and any workers' compensation or auto coverage required by law. You must upload current proof of insurance and update it before expiration. Lapsed coverage pauses your account.
4. Identity and background verification
You agree to verify your identity with a government-issued photo ID and authorize a background check through Voltora's screening provider. Voltora may decline or deactivate accounts based on verification results, consistent with applicable law.
5. Professional standards
Work safely and to code, arrive within the confirmed window, communicate delays promptly, keep the client's home clean, upload before/after photos, and never request off-platform payment for jobs found through Voltora.
6. Customer service expectations
Treat homeowners with courtesy and respect, explain work and pricing clearly before starting, and respond to messages in a timely manner. Disputes are handled through Voltora's resolution process.
7. Payment terms
Clients pay through Voltora. Voltora retains a 20% platform fee per job; you receive the remaining 80% through Stripe payouts to the bank account you provide in Stripe's secure onboarding. Membership fees are billed as described in the Electrician Terms. Tax information (Form W-9) is collected by Stripe, and you are responsible for your own taxes.
8. Platform rules, grading and deactivation
Your performance is graded on quality, reliability, responsiveness and reviews; grades influence job priority. Fraud, unsafe work, harassment, repeated no-shows or off-platform solicitation may result in suspension or removal.
9. Indemnity and liability
You are responsible for the work you perform and agree to indemnify Voltora against claims arising from your work, negligence or violation of law, to the extent permitted by law.
10. Electronic signature and changes
Typing your full legal name and checking the acceptance box constitutes your electronic signature with the same effect as a handwritten one. Voltora may update this agreement with notice; continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
